HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Mi A3 is rumoured to launch in India on August 23.
  • The Mi A3 is essentially a rebranded Mi CC9e from China.
  • The Mi A3 gets an upgraded triple camera setup and Snapdragon 665 chipset.

few months ago, Xiaomi launched the Mi CC9 series of phones in China and soon after that, the global markets got to see the Mi CC9 rebadged as the Mi A3. Of course, as with every Mi A series phone, Xiaomi will launch it in India and now the rumours suggest Xiaomi may do it soon, In fact, by August 23, we could get to see the Mi A3 in the Indian market.
The rumour comes from Smartprix suggesting that the Mi A3 will launch in India by August 23. This falls in line with the annual launch of the next generation of the Mi A series of phones in India. Nothing else is known about this fact except for the launch date. Given that the Mi A3 is already available in the European markets, Xiaomi will bring the same to India.
And that may not be very good news for many Android One fans in India. Unlike the previous Mi A series phones, the Mi A3 sees a major downgrade in one crucial area and average updates elsewhere, save for the cameras at the back.
The Mi A3 in Europe comes with a 6-inch HD+ AMOLED screen. While the AMOLED panel is a major step-up from the LCD used in the Mi A2, Xiaomi has weirdly downgraded to screen resolution to HD+. This could make the phone a tough sell given that most phones under Rs 20,000 offer a Full HD+ screen as standard. Nonetheless, the Mi A3 gets an in-display fingerprint sensor.
